Social media misuse can get you in serious trouble
Today, social media is a large part of people’s lives. Be it Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn or any other channel, 62% of people in the UK are active on some form of social media platform.
Although you may feel like your social and work lives are completely separate, you can actually face discipline or dismissal for social media misuse.
What is considered social media misuse?
The following would create grounds for an employment disciplinary:
- Posting negative comments about your job, clients or employer
- Sharing private company information
- Expressing off-colour personal opinions which could reflect badly on your employer
- Acting on behalf of the company without permission to do so
