Defining home learning
Several different types of modern learning take place away from a traditional taught classroom environment and involve greater or lesser degrees of home learning. Some of these may also involve workplace or 'on the job' learning. 'Distance learning' or 'correspondence courses' involve study from home supported by sent course materials and tutorial support over the phone or Internet.
Open learning and flexible learning courses normally involve pre-arranged attendance at an institution according to the requirements and availability of the learner, and may involve a degree of home study.
