Energy prices in the UK just keep on going up … and up.

Following news that October will see Ofgem’s price cap soar to £3,549 for an average annual bill, and forecasts of an even higher hike from January 2023, many are really feeling the cost of living pinch.
You might be wondering what the energy price situation is like over in Europe, in countries such as France and Germany – as you mull over the available help or make plans to cut your usage.
Here is how the UK compares with the rest of Europe.
What are energy prices like elsewhere in Europe?
The UK is paying the second highest amount of electricity in Europe, only topped by the Czech Republic, according to the Household Energy Price Index (HEPI).
It can be difficult to do a direct comparison of energy prices across countries, so HEPI looked at household electricity and gas costs in European capital cities in July 2022, focusing on the average price per kWh.
