What to report
Child abuse includes physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect. You don’t need to be sure that a child or young person has been abused – it’s okay to report a suspicion.
Are you worried about a child or young person?
Although most children grow up in a safe and loving environment, unfortunately some do not. We all have a responsibility to keep babies, children and young people safe. If you spot any signs of abuse, harm or neglect, there are many people out there that can help them.
Who should I tell?
- If a child is in immediate danger, call the police right away at 999.
- If there is no immediate danger, you can:
- Contact the police at 101 or report concerns online via your local police website.
- Reach out to the social services department at your local council (contact details are available on the council’s website).
- Speak to a trusted professional, such as a doctor, teacher, or school safeguarding lead (their contact details can be found on the school’s website)....
