I was working on a story recently about people who follow the FIRE lifestyle – an extreme method of saving and investing aimed at making early retirement possible – when one of my interviewees mentioned her love life.
“This whole movement kind of limits your dating” said Laura Poole, 27. “If I meet someone and find out they tend to go into debt over Christmas, that’s a deal-breaker.”
While not everyone is committed to such an intense money regime, the idea of mismatched attitudes to money scuppering relationships is an interesting one.
