It seems that more often than not, the media/entertainment industry is portrayed in a negative way for teens based on the influence that it has. It can influence teens both positively and negatively, and can result in the formation of specific habits and establishment of norms.

How media shapes teen habits

Let’s face it, in most cases the media/entertainment industry isn’t getting you outside and moving around. You’re most likely to bunker down in front of the TV for a favourite show or to play a video game. You’re still sedentary even while doing something positive like reading a newspaper or magazine. With these norms, you’re more likely to stay inside versus getting yourself out there and active during your teenage years, and that’s not always a good thing if you’re lacking balance.
