Local charity Alabaré is reporting a very successful start to its latest Home for Veterans in Salisbury. The home, which provides accommodation for up to five Armed Forces veterans at a time, was full within a few weeks of opening.

Alabaré is the UK’s largest provider of specialist accommodation for veterans outside of London.

After leaving the army, veterans can find themselves facing all manner of issues. In contrast to the structure of army life, ex-servicemen find themselves having to budget, often for the first time in their lives, and can sometimes fall into debt. Others may struggle with finding new employment. Whilst some find that the scars they’ve brought home aren’t physical, but emotional. Alabaré’s Salisbury Home for Veterans looks to support ex-service personnel to overcome these issues and make a successful transition to their civilian lives.
