General Article Talent scouts troll eating disorder clinic to recruit skinny models

Unscrupulous modelling scouts are under fire after being caught trolling Sweden’s largest eating-disorder clinic in Stockholm for modelling prospects.
‘People have stood outside our clinic and tried to pick up our girls because they know they are very thin,’ Dr. Anna-Maria told The Local 18 April. ‘We think this is repugnant. It sends the wrong signals when the girls are being treated for eating disorders.’
In one instance, a modelling scout approached a 14-year-old girl suffering from anorexia. In another incident, a scout tried to recruit an emaciated young woman who was in a wheelchair due to starvation-induced poor health.
‘If these allegations are true, it’s despicable,’ says psychologist Andreas Birgegård, chair of the Swedish Anorexia and Bulimia Society. ‘For people who have an illness centred around weight and looks, it's catastrophic to throw them into a business that focuses on exactly those things.’
