The importance of sharing the voices of LGBT Muslims is huge - you can’t speak about Muslim people as a homogeneous group.

Ezra Stripe, 27, is a transgender lesbian Muslim living in England. They are one of six volunteers at Hidayah, a UK organisation for LGBTQI+ Muslims which campaigns against stigma, taboo and discrimination within the community.

Over the last month, Parkfield Community School in Birmingham made headlines after a new programme included lessons on LGBT rights and homophobia, sparking protests from Muslim parents who threatened to pull their children from school. Stripe spoke to Ruchira Sharma about the importance of giving LGBT Muslim voices a platform.
